Our Birds

For bird watchers, there are a myriad of shore bird species and a huge rookery of roseate spoonbills and herons. Enormous flocks of migratory ducks show up each fall and winter congregating in the marshy areas adjacent to the lodge.

There are also guided bird watching and nature tours available to the nearby Aransas Wildlife Refuge which is the winter home of our remaining flocks of endangered whooping cranes.
